Allergy Testing
Advanced skin testing for all allergies.
With Dr. Justin Clark, discovering the cause(s) of your allergies begins with a complete exam and discussion of your symptoms, your family’s medical history, lifestyle (work, diet, and recreation habits), and possible exposure to certain allergy-causing allergens. If indicated, Dr. Clark will conduct a skin test immediately after a full medical history is taken. This helps identify the allergen(s) that cause an allergic reaction(s).
In-office skin testing.
Dr. Clark performs in-office skin tests to accurately diagnose the full spectrum of allergies. Skin testing involves exposing the skin to allergens and then watching for signs of an allergic reaction. If the skin at the test site becomes red, itchy, or swollen, the test is considered positive for that particular allergen. Several allergens can be tested simultaneously to eliminate those that are suspected of causing symptoms.
prick test — With this test, Dr. Clark pricks tiny drops of allergen extracts into the surface of your skin. The prick test can help pinpoint airborne allergies (pollen, dust mites, animal dander) and food allergies.
patch test — This test involves the placement of a patch on your skin that contains an allergen. Patch tests are performed to help determine substances that cause contact dermatitis, such as medications, latex, metals, and perfume/cologne/soap.
Same-day test results.
Dr. Clark will provide the results of your skin test promptly, usually within 15 minutes of completion. Your test results play a key role in the development of your individualized treatment plan.
